The webpage times out when I try to access an article from the Library Database, what should I do?

Answer

If you are getting a timed out error, try clearing the cache in your browser.  To do this, first go to your browser's Settings by opening the menu on the top right of your browser's toolbar.  On Chrome and Edge the browser menu looks like three dots, and on Firefox, it is three lines.

If you are on Firefox or Edge, navigate to "Settings" and use the built-in search bar to search for "cache" to bring up the options to clear your cache.

If you are on Chrome, simply click "Delete browsing data" in the browser menu.

You can now choose what you would like to delete.  Deleting saved Cookies will clear information stored by websites on your browser, possibly logging you out of websites.  Clearing the Cache can help you clear a small amount of space on your computer, and clearing Browsing History will delete the history of websites you've visited from your browser.

If you have cleared the cache fully and you are still getting the time out error, please chat a librarian on the library website, or send us an email at library@mariacollege.edu.
